We are pleased to announce that after a player vote, our offensive and defensive captains for the 2017 season have been chosen.
On offence, we have Chris ‘Teflon’ Hobbs. The veteran wide receiver and running back unfortunately had to miss last season due to a torn ACL. After a strict and gruelling recovery process, Tef is back to play for the team he has been at since 2011.
When asked about how he felt about being announced as the offensive captain, Tef had this to say:
It’s an absolute honour to have been voted offensive captain for the coming season. It’s been an aspiration of mine to be captain, and to do it with this great bunch of guys is a great feeling. Coming back from ACL surgery has been a long road and it’s a great feeling to have come back to the team and I couldn’t have asked for a greater welcome and vote of confidence from the guys! I hope to do the lads proud and lead us to a very successful 2017 campaign and I look forward to the challenges ahead!
On defence, we have Josh Kelly. The former offensive lineman was the offensive captain last year. After a great preseason playing as a middle linebacker, Josh has been awarded Defensive captain going into his fourth season with the club.
When asked about how he felt about being announced as the defensive captain, Josh had this to say:
It’s a true honour to be named defensive captain for 2017 and I’m looking forward to the season, but this is a responsibility that we all have to take on together as a team! We need to work hard for each other, leave everything on the field and I promise that as the chosen captain not only will we accomplish everything we set out to do but we will show everyone who the Coventry Jets are!
